Martin Winterkorn, the new VW chairman who's on his way to becoming one of my personal heroes, is not forgetting about Audi (he was chairman of Audi before he got promoted to the top post of the whole VW group). After installing Walter de Silva (also of Audi), as the head of design for the whole VW group, he poached Wolfgang Egger from Alfa Romeo to head up Audi's design. Egger, whose creations include the 166 (eek), 147 (better) and 8C Competizione (wow), will be tasked with giving Audi a design language even more distinct from that of other VW brands.
P.S. Mr de Silva was himself poached from Alfa in 1998
