Industry Rumour: Honda to go back to drawing-board with the NSX replacement

I am one of the few people who thought that the Advanced Sports Car Concept, pictured above, was a bit disappointing for a car, which is singlehandedly suppose to supplant the NSX and become "Japan's answer to Aston Martin". It just didn't look right, a bit like an upscale Saturn Sky/Opel GT.

Rumour has it Honda high-ups have a similar opinion and decided to send the NSX-replacement back to the drawing board to make it a car truly worthy of its heritage and planned $100k plus price tag. If you ask me they should stick to a mid-engined layout - they already have history and experience there, whereas (to my recollection) no Japanese company has done a front-engined GT since the Toyota 2000GT of the 1960s (and even that was more of a sports car than GT). Of course, Honda has already been there with its Enzo-inspired, chiseled 2003 HSC concept:
If the rumours are true then, the eventual NSX replacement will be the company's third attempt. You know what they say: three time's the charm...
