When I first saw Huckfeldt's chop I should have thought "Opel Insignia concept from '03". But instead I thought of the Saturn Outlook, the US-only huge SUV-crossover. Someone in Saturn must have looked to Europe for inspiration, but seeing how Saturn is quickly becoming Opel's US twin that's hardly surprising.
What is surprising, though, is that Opel still bothers with building this car. Ford has wisely left this segment to more upmarket marques such as Audi, BMW, MB or even VW. Opel is still in denial, clearly. However, if you have an inexpensive RWD platform lying around (the Holden Commodore Beta platform), that I guess the car can be a low-cost, low-revenue halo model.
P.S. rumour has it they want to call it "Kaptain" in reference to once top-of-the-line Opel model from the 1960s; I wander if Opel really wishes to increase the average age of it's clients further still?
