Industry News: Daimler-Chrysler to sell Chrysler?

Days after Chrysler announced its "Project X" designed to cut down loses and return the company back into the red, the chairman of Daimler-Chrysler Dieter Zetsche admitted to the press he is considering selling the American firm. It's interested that Dieter Zetsche was promoted to his current position after running Chrysler for a couple of years and supposedly setting the firm on a road to recovery (sic!).

Personally I'm not too surprised Chrysler is in trouble: their current model portfolio pales in comparison with the resurgent General's, quality is poor, and the firm is yet to replicate the success of the 300C with any other of its models. But if Mercedes Benz sells Chrysler, it will go back to its pre-expansion days, meaning it will have invested in and subsequently pulled out of Chrysler, Mitsubishi and, to a degree, Smart.
